Meet the Owners

Sonja and I are delighted to have this opportunity to welcome you to the newly re-branded YD Guest Ranch. We feel extremely fortunate to have been able to purchase the ranch in the spring of 2010.  The Historic ranch was originally a trading post for our area, and then became part of a large cattle operation. In the late 1930’s and on through the 1940’s it was operated as a dude ranch and now has come full circle It is our goal to maintain the historic character of the ranch, and to provide a rustic, but comfortable atmosphere for our guests to enjoy during their stay. With that goal in mind we have preserved most of the original buildings (our home is a restored 100 year old log cabin). We have restored a beautiful 10 stall barn where all our horses are pampered on an almost daily basis. We want to offer our guest a unique accommodation experience and you will get that in one of our luxurious Tipis, Cliff House or our unique tree house.

We, along with our staff, want you to enjoy your stay, your rides, the beautiful country, and all of the other activities that you may choose to do during your visit to the Historic YD Ranch. As part of the ranch ‘family,’ please let us know if there is anything that we can do to help you plan for a great vacation.

My family has been farming and ranching in BC and Alberta since the early 1900’s. I have been in the horse and ranch business off and on my whole life. Operating this great ranch with Sonja is my “Dream come True”. We believe we ride in some of the most beautiful country put on this earth, and we are humbled to call it our home. We couldn’t be happier to be your hosts. We hope you enjoy it as much we do.

Part of your welcoming committee our beloved dogs....

Sonja is a native BC girl and has been a horse “nut” her entire life. Sonja spent her early years (before I grabbed her) in the modeling and cosmetics field. Mixing her career with her love of horses and the outdoors and as a result “she has never looked back” since we bought the ranch.

 Ranching is in our blood...

We welcome you to the re-branded YD Guest Ranch
